What is Marketing? Marketing is the process of creating and delivering value to meet the needs of a target market in terms of goods and services, a selection of certain attributes to emphasise in creating advertising campaigns, defining the terms of sale, such as price, discounts, warranty and return policy and creating an awareness of a brand/club or service.

When creating a Marketing Plan you can start with the 5 P's of Marketing:

Product - the product and services offered by a business/club. Customers need to understand the features, advantages and benefits that can be enjoyed by buying goods or services. When you think about your product or service, consider the key features, benefits and the needs and wants of your customers.

Price - the price refers to the pricing strategy for products and services and how it will affect customers. Pricing decisions include the selling price, discounts, payment arrangements, credit terms and any price-matching services offered. When determining a pricing strategy, it is important to consider the business or club's position in the market.

Promotion - this refers to the activities that make the business/club known to customers. It includes items such as sponsorships, advertising, and public relations activities. Since promotion costs can be substantial, it is essential to conduct a cost analysis when making promotion decisions. It is important to understand the value of a customer and whether it is worth conducting promotions to reach more customers.

Place - this refers to where the product or service is seen, made, sold or distributed. In essence, place decisions are associated with distribution channels and ways of getting the product to targeted customers. It is important to consider how accessible the product or service is and ensure that customers can find you easily. The product or service must be available to customers at the right time, at the right place, and in the right quantity.

People - refers to the staff, salespeople and those who work for the business/club. People decisions are usually centred around customer service. Think about how you want your employees to be perceived by customers?
